How requirements are sourced
Every dimension and file size on this site is a claim about somebody else’s application portal. Getting one wrong costs a reader an application fee and weeks of delay, so this page sets out how those claims are handled.
Three kinds of statement
Every requirement on a tool page carries one of three labels.
- Official requirement — published by the issuing authority, with the source listed at the bottom of the page.
- Calculated from the official figure — a value derived arithmetically, such as converting 35 by 45 millimetres to 413 by 531 pixels at 300 DPI. The arithmetic is shown so you can check it.
- DocuFix recommendation — our own judgement, not a rule. Following it is optional and ignoring it will not fail a validator.
When sources disagree
They frequently do. The SSC notification gives two different signature dimensions in two places in the same document. The two authorised PAN portals publish different photo sizes, and the third-party resizers that dominate search results confidently state numbers that match neither.
Where that happens, the tool page says so at the top rather than picking one figure and presenting it as settled. Those pages also stay out of the structured data that produces answer boxes in search results, because a contested figure shown as a definitive answer is worse than no answer.
Review dates
Each tool page shows the date its requirements were last checked against the sources. The date is only moved when a check actually happens. Several specifications on this site — NEET, GATE — are republished each exam cycle, and those pages say so instead of implying permanence.
The portal is the authority
Wherever the upload screen in front of you states a size, that figure wins over anything on this site. The custom size tool exists precisely for that case.
Reporting an error
If a figure here is wrong or out of date, email workmailkartikeya@gmail.com with the tool name and, if you have it, a link to the official page. Corrections are made against the source, and the review date is updated when they are.
